Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Its already December! When did that happen? We were just home for Thanksgiving. Eating turkey and ham and stuffing! Mmmm...dinner was good this year! And how about that cake and dip, who makes that, it was awesome! I hope we have it again at Christmas time! I missed the shopping day this year because I went down to see my mom. I heard it was a day full of eating, drinking, eating, a little shopping and some more eating! Maybe next year I will finally be able to do it again. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Christmas!

Its been awhile!

Wow! I didn't realize that it had been so long since I posted! From June to September! Our garden no longer looks like it did the last time I posted! In fact it is about dead. Fortunately we had a great harvest! The picture I put on the header is Salsa from tomatos and peppers from our garden. Mmmm... it is good!

Lindsay's wedding has come and gone! Nick seems to be a good guy, good luck to him with living with Lindsay! As soon as I find the link her pics are posted on I will let everyone know.

In case anyone hasn't heard Caitlyn and Kristin are both expecting babies this spring. Caitlyn at the end of April and Kristin the middle of May! We are excited about that! Kristin is also graduating this December with a Bachelors in Health Science I think. Yay Kristin!

Jordan has recovered with his bout of we don't know what except that it wasn't strep, mono or swine flu! We got to go see him this weekend for family weekend. Next year I hope they pick a weekend without rain! Doug and I sat thru 3 1/2 hours of rain just to watch him march for about 8 minutes! do we love that boy or what! Sadly the football team lost after being up 21-0 at the half. With the down pouring rain I was hoping someone would win before the end of the game, but lucky us, we got to sit in the rain for overtime too! (and here I will put a slight rant, could the refs have been any more bias for Butler? I mean they would blow the whistle and then look in their rule books to see if they could come up with something to penalize our team with! Honestly!) Its a good thing I'm not that into football! Poor Doug though, we sat in the rain to watch Morehead lose and at the same time his fighting Illini were not fighting to hard at OSU.
Oh well our high school team won! Go Tigers! And Go Bears too! (I'm not sure how they are doing we can't find them on tv out here!)

Doesn't Jordan look cute in a headband! He is second snare on the left!

What the? Who let that in my garden?

So, we had a rabbit in our garden last week. I thought we were done with critters. But nooo... I was wrong! We were getting ready to eat dinner and as Caitlyn looked out the window what did she see? A baby groundhog! Just eating my romaine lettuce as fast as he could! Doug chased him away but he went under our deck! Is the whole family under there? They are going to have to go! I want to trap them and turn them loose somewhere else. Doug wants to shoot them! Can you do that in a neighborhood?

On another note today was Jordan's orientation at Morehead. It is a beautiful campus! Small too! It turns out most of his classes will be in the same building. Less walking for him. To bad cause he really could use the exercise! Maybe walking up that hill to the library will build up his glutes and give him a butt!
Seriously though he is going to love it there! The football stadium is small too, I think it is not much bigger than our high school stadium! Hopefully he will make the snare line although he is garunteed a spot in the percussion section. He said he is ready to go now. I however am not ready for him to go. I did tear up a little when I realized that he will actually be leaving on August 9th. I thought it would be later, but they plan band camp so that it is the week before move in day and the band kids get to move in early! :(

This is a picture of our lovely garden! I carefully chose what kind of vegetables I wanted to grow this year and then carefully chose the varieties! Then Doug tilled the ground til it was just right for planting. He waters it faithfully every night unless there is rain. He also checks for weeds every time he is out there! It is doing beautifully! We have already enjoyed the taste of fresh spinach and lettuce salads.

Then last night as I was getting ready to cook dinner I heard hem say "I can't believe it". He was looking out the window at the garden. "What?" I asked. "Look out there in the garden" he said. So I looked and much to my surprise I saw Peter Cottontail munching merrily away on our lettuces! I went out to get his picture and the little guy just looked at me and smiled! Then he hopped away, probably to eat the neighbors beans!

Doug said he has been living in our raspberry patch. I am going to have to keep my eye on him! I hope he doesn't decide to bring his aunts, uncles, and cousins!
Does anybody need any lettuce or spinach?

Summertime!

Woohoo summertime is officially here! Break out the bikinis!
Nothing new here really, just excited that it is summertime! Hopefully we will get to see some of you this summer!
Jordan seems to be extremely busy I hope we will get to see him before he is gone for good! Less than 2 months now, his orientation is this Thursday. Hopefully we will get some information about his housing and whether or not he can have a car on campus.
So... whats new with all of you?

It Really Happened!

Yep, Jordan really did graduate from High School last Saturday! We wondered if he would because about two days before graduation we got a call from the school saying he hadn't turned in his band uniform yet. That's my boy! They are supposed to turn them in after the last football game in the fall. He ran it over after school that day but of course forgot to take his hat too!
His school rents out this big huge church called World Harvest, we think it is funny that the pastor's last name is Parsley! The ceremony took about an hour and a half. It was a little longer than the girls graduations but he had a lot more kids in his class. I didn't get to many pictures because I loaned Jordan my camera when he went to D.C. and I didn't get it back til the morning of graduation with an almost dead battery! Caitlyn got some good picture though and they are on her blog!

I made his banner for him. When it was time to order them the money wasn't in our budget, when I had the money in the budget there was no time to get one done! That's called the Jordan luck! I finished it the night before graduation. That's called procrastination!

Jordan and his friend Brendan!

John Phillips Sousa Award for musical excellence!

Jordan's friend Ross, a comedian! This is somewhere in D.C.

New Background!

Hooray! I did it all by myself no Caitlyn helping me. New background and header picture. Of course it took me a little while so now instead of posting I have to go get Matthias, the baby I watch has woken up from his nap! He is a cutie though so I don't mind, maybe he will come sit with me and I can really post something cool! Oh, wait, that would mean something cool has happened! never mind. Well if anything cool has happened to any of you remember you can post on here too! We out here in Ohio would love to know what is going on with the rest of you! You know like how softball games or hockey or anything that is happening.
Do you all remember that this time last year we were in training for that 60 mile walk? It feels weird this year that I am not in training. Have any of you been walking lately?
Okay, enough rambling!
Bye

Jordan

He would yell at me if he knew I was blogging about him! Too bad! Just an update on him, I don't know how many family members still check this blog but here is what is going on with him.
He will be going to Morehead State University which is in Kentucky. He did get accepted into the music program there and did receive some scholarships, hurray!!! He is studying music education there. That is also Lindsay's major, I hope they don't end up competing for the same jobs when they graduate! Today in about 2 1/2 hours he is presenting his senior project. He wrote a cadence and got his drumline to help him present it. I am excited to go and watch him. I can't believe my baby is all grown up!
I know the background is a little out dated so when Caitlyn gets up I will have her refresh me on how to change it.

Bored

Here it is 8:50 am and I am bored! Everyone else here is still sleeping! Lazies! Not much is new except for Jordan had his audition at Moorehead State on Wednesday and it apparently went amazingly well! They really liked him (I know, who wouldn't) and said that he was at the top of their scholarship list. That doesn't mean he will get one but chances are pretty good. So now he will have to decide between Michigan State and Moorehead. Two pretty good choices! So, that is all that is new with these Ohio Mcfarlands, what about the rest of you?

I know its still February!

Okay, I know it is still February but I am bored and Caitlyn is here to show me how to change the background so I went ahead and put up one for March. After all we are Irish are we not? Besides it will be awhile before I have the nerve to change it again.
So what is new with everyone?
Jordan and Doug went to Ann Arbor today for Jordan's music audition. He has now been accepted at Michigan State and Moorehead State, we are just waiting to hear from University of Michigan so he can make his decision. Hopefully he will be offered a scholarship from somewhere. That will make his decision easier.
Lindsay is still dating Nick but is not engaged!
Kristin and Jacob are still just going along like newly married people do.
And Caitlyn, Will, and Chaela are living in our basement which Doug and I like, but I am not sure how much they do!!
Chaela is learning new words everyday like Mamaw (that's me).
